Constipation

Homeopathy helps in improving the working of your digestive system. Since constipation can be caused by different reasons, we take the time to understand the reasons that may have given rise to constipation before suggesting the right course of treatment. We aim at ending the problem from the root. This begins by identifying the symptoms and checking for the causes of constipation with the patient. Once we know what is causing the problem, we use the treatments to eradicate the problem right from the root and help our patients get freedom from constipation.

When you experience a reduction in your bowel movements, which ends up causing unwanted pain in your stomach, then you are constipated. While it is considered to be normal if it happens rarely, when the frequency of constipation increases, or when it gets chronic then it is important that you consult a doctor. You may not feel at ease when you are constipated and your body will be a lot more relaxed once it is treated.

Staying active and drink lots of water can be helpful in keeping constipation at bay. Lots of caffeine intake can also dehydrate the body, so it is best to reduce caffeine in your diet if you feel constipated. Making sure that you go to the bathroom when you feel the urge to pass stools is also important, because stopping yourself from using the bathroom when you need to can lead to constipation.

Signs and Symptoms

Constipation can be caused because of a number of reasons. It can be because of changes in your diet, eating disorders, lower intake of water, not being active, stress, absence of fibres in your diet and it can be even caused by colon cancer.

People may experience different symptoms depending on the reason of constipation, but some of the common symptoms of being constipated are:

  • The patient experience lesser bowel movements. This means that they may end up going after more than 2 or 3 days. This is why the faeces become harder and it is more difficult to let it out of the system.
  • Troubles having bowel movements. You may not feel the need to pass stools at all, but your body may feel uneasy since you are unable to go.
  • You may feel that the stools did not come out completely and there is still some left but you are not able to pass any more stools.
  • Constipation is usually accompanied with a swollen belly and you may experience stomach pain too.
  • The stools you pass will be hard and it may be small.
  • Sometimes, chronic constipation can also lead to vomiting.
Diagnosis

Constipation can be diagnosed with the help of a medical history of the patient where the doctor would like to understand the current medications being taken by the patient along with their eating habits and lifestyle. It can include medical tests like blood and stool tests along with a colonoscopy to help the doctor understand the extent of the problem.
